ACTIONS

For these plans to work out well, a person must not rely only on the measures given by the authority. It is everyone’s duty to be involved in this matter.  Awareness should start in ourselves. Being informed about the different disasters that can happen in our country should be enough for us to know how important individual preparation is. I think the media does not lack in reminding everyone to prepare every time that we’ll have a typhoon or flood. The problem is with the people who just think that they are just exaggerating things and such. We should not have that kind of mentality and just listen to their warnings and reminders. The same thing should be done in our community to prevent or lessen the impact of the disasters.

Having ourselves prepared for disasters is like only half of a whole picture. The other half would be the response of the authorities to the situation of affected areas. Our government still lacks that part though. They are good in reminding everyone to prepare but sometimes they are the one who lacks. I’m talking about their actions after a disaster. It really takes a long time before the damaged areas are restored and sometimes their relief operations are late. I think the government needs to improve its system in risk management. We should have mastered by now the things that we need to do before and after the disaster. We should not blame each other for our shortcomings but let us work together to build them up. Let us become the superheroes that each of us need.
